The Red Ants - Omega Point CD £6.99
incl P&P
Red Ants 2005 debut Phobos Deimos burnt
up Canadian college radio charts, received critical acclaim internationally
and led to successful tours of the U.S. and Europe. URB magazine described
it as ten tracks of angry, fist-pumping anthems of urban rebellion
set in a dark, desolate present with promise for an even bleaker future"
and gave it four out of five stars. Now with Red Ants second album
on the horizon, Omega Point, Modulok and Vincent Price continue to seize
and conquer the decadent resort towns of a dying music industry choking
on its own vomit. Red Ants remains the banging antithesis to the glitter
rappers and pop-thugs, like a soviet coal plant run by the ghosts of
dead Bolsheviks continuing to churn out grimy rap realness that blackens
the sky and frightens the peasants. While fabricated major label emcees
and their clones sell played-out fantasies and rap like they got down
syndrome, Red Ants and their growing legion of comrades come with some
real shit more likely to inspire you to throw a brick than buy a car.
Its the perfect hip-hop soundtrack
as the world comes crumbling down around you. (urbnet)
"Vincent Price's pounding tracks set the tone for what the Red
Ants are all about, with their relentless drums and creepy sound effects
weaved throughout" (herohill.com)
"Omega Point" is meaner, scarier, and creepier than your typical
hip hop album. While other rappers are trying to be gangsta, Modulok
and Vincent Price are satisfied with being evil." (rapreviews.com)

‘Bare Smoke’ are back, with
a little present for you all. Since their collaboration on Smokey’s
highly acclaimed debut album, ‘Words from the Missing’,
the duo have been working hard to put together a selection of dark tracks,
highly influenced by bass heavy Jazz, dark side Drum ‘n’
Bass and various atmospheric film scores. Flipping it up a bit yet staying
true to their unique rough & rugged hip hop sound with a bitter
twist, the pair have put together a compilation of head jamming tracks
with more than a nod to their customary deep bass lines, hectic sythns

Various - What The Fuk " Review
taken from
Urbnet
British label Bare Records releases this compilation of tracks produced
by in-house production team Bare Smoke to showcase the artists they
are currently working with and promote the albums they have coming up.
Bare and Smoke combine to create a dark, minimal production sound suitable
as a soundtrack to any old horror flick. They work great for the British
emcees that appear, especially for Smokey and Perry Scaramanga, but
the mellow beats backing Canadian rapper Modulok knock some of the wind
out of his usually aggressive verbal assault. Still, new Modulok is
better than no Modulok, and lyrically both People and Rob
& Choke are definitely proper, but he's just not snapping
necks like he's supposed to. While the album could have been better
sequenced, like positioning What the Fuck Skit 2 as the
intro instead of the song (however it good it is) that actually starts
the album, What the Fuk is a good selection of tight tracks. Bare Records
will be a label to watch for as 2008 unfolds. [Thomas Quinlan]

"'Words...' flicks smoldering underclass
storytelling ash across those canvasses, and trumps plenty established
emcee's in the process"
by Adam Anonymous (HHC)
Last year east Londoner Smokey aka Benny
Grim released the 'Road Zombies' single and marked the start of a very
promising career. Now he's back with 'Words...' Lyrics range from narrative
to straight up battled rhyme's as this troubled soul gets it off his
chest"
by Mike Lewis (HHC)
"A consistent album with dark guitars
and strings over hard dusty drums blessed with sinister story telling
and battle rhymes from Smokey."

" Words From the Missing is a quality
debut that will hopefully acquire a bit of exposure on this side of
the ocean."
